STI strongly encourages clients to arrange for their employees to be trained as RCM 2 facilitators. This action ultimately leads to superior asset management programs with a high level of the internal ownership that is essential to ensure that the results endure over the long term. However, in the early stages of developing an internal capability, it suits many clients to arrange for a certified STI consultant to facilitate a small number of RCM 2 analyses. The reason is partly to help demonstrate what RCM 2 can achieve in terms of improved plant performance and partly to show how quickly an experienced facilitator can complete such analyses.
